Sales and Marketing Director

Full-time Permanent,  Flexible Start Date

Reports To: CEO

Salary: 60-70K Based on Experience, Health Benefits After 3-Months

THE POSITION

MakeLab is looking for an experienced Sales and Marketing Director to develop and execute the growth marketing strategy for our creative studio. Reporting to our CEO, you’ll be responsible for achieving our sales targets and expanding our customer base globally. You will be working in a fast-paced startup environment with a passionate team. Along with the support of your fellow directors at MakeLab, you’ll develop campaigns, market our products and offerings, and help bring newly-released interactives to a growing range of clients.

Responsibilities

  • With the direction of the CEO and in partnership with the Director team, you will create and execute a marketing and sales strategy for the Canadian and US market

  • Effectively communicate our event offerings through proposals, presentations, and the creation of sales materials together with our Client Services Director

  • In partnership with the Director of Operations, work to develop a sales and marketing department through hiring, training, and leadership as the company grows

  • Deliver on sales objectives and work with the Client Services Director to coach the account management team on the sales process

  • Develop strategies to achieve our monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and gross profit targets with the Director of Finance and our Clients Services Director

  • Focus on customer retention and increasing project sales, while acquiring new clients.

  • Identify and coordinate prospective client pitches, marketing engagements, and attendance at relevant trade shows, for yourself and for team members (some travel required)

  • Work with the Creative Director to develop, implement and schedule creative content for social media, sales and marketing initiatives

  • Any other duties as assigned

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in marketing, business or related field

  • 5 years of relevant work experience as a sales manager or sales and marketing manager, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills

  • Experience working with a small team or growing a startup

  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Director team, management staff, and coordinators to execute company objectives

  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to travel and work weekends or evenings as required

  • Interest and knowledge in the events or experiential advertising industry

  • Flexible, get-shit-done team player

ABOUT MAKELAB

Four years ago, we took eight 3D printers to a Toronto bar and taught design until last call. We’ve since taken all our tools out of the lab, inventing ways to spark wonder and creativity in unexpected places. We stretch technology beyond its design intent, creating accessible, collaborative, and interactive experiences at events around the world. Our studio is filled with laser cutters, light tables, fabric printers, projectors, and food photo booths.
