Hey, We're Hiring!

Project Coordinator

3-Month Contract (With Possibility of Extension) | Starting December 1st, 2018

MakeLab is growing, and we need your help! Our small studio has designed and brought interactives to hundreds of events across Canada, the US, and Europe. To keep up with the increasing demand, we’re expanding our client services team. We’re looking to add a strong and energetic project coordinator to our growing studio. You’ll work with clients, our internal studio/creative team, and suppliers to manage and execute events and programs. You’ll also work with internationally-recognized brands and advertising agencies while learning about innovative creative technologies. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as client contact on day-to-day management of projects and correspondence.

  • Develop and maintain timelines and budgets for MakeLab’s projects.

  • Participate in the creative development of new projects and pre-planning strategies

  • Take on sales calls and creative pitching to build one-of-a-kind tailored experiences for clients that tie in their themes or brand narratives with the assistance of Senior Account Manager

  • Manage program requirements and logistics, taking ownership and acting as quality/time control of all projects, from pitch to post-event.

  • Work efficiently and proactively without close supervision.

  • Be on site at events as required to train staff, liaise with clients, and execute events in Canada and internationally.

  • Assist senior project managers with complex projects.

  • Constantly be keeping an eye out for new ways to improve our workflow and procedures.

  • You have 3+ years working experience (experiential and agency preferred) and have a University degree and/or equivalent in marketing, project management, event planning or business.

  • Your friends describe you as energetic and outgoing, with a get-shit-done attitude

  • You're really strong in time management/organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • You can handle a flexible schedule and are able to work evenings and weekends

  • You’re a collaborator and can take charge when necessary

  • You’re a creative problem solver and you think fast on your feet

  • You have strong interpersonal/service based skills with the ability to develop sound working relationships with clients

  • You excel in sales and can speak clearly and concisely about complicated issues

  • You have a driver's license and are comfortable driving long distances (hard requirement)

  • You have a valid passport, can travel to the USA and overseas, and like to do so (hard requirement)

  • You understand that things change fast at a startup and you are ready to tackle new challenges with a positive attitude

About You (Bonus Points!)

  • You have experience with using 3D printers, laser cutters, or other Maker tools

  • You have a knack for technology, or at least enjoy working with it

Three years ago, we took eight 3D printers to a Toronto bar and taught design until last call. We’ve since taken all our tools out of the lab, inventing ways to spark wonder and creativity in unexpected places. We stretch technology beyond its design intent, creating accessible, collaborative, and interactive experiences at events around the world. Our studio is filled with laser cutters, light tables, fabric printers, projectors, and food photo booths. Creative people looking to solve interesting technical and design challenges will find their place here.

  • Health benefits available at 3 months of employment

  • Get paid to travel! Some of our latest destinations: San Francisco, Milan, San Diego!

  • Opportunities for contract extension and movement within the company! We always prefer to hire from within.

  • Front row seat to a growing start-up!
