Events Team Member

Occasional, Hourly | Hiring Ongoing | Reports to Staffing Lead

We are always hiring for our part-time events team. We’re looking for folks who’ve worked in a brand ambassador role for at least one year, or has equivalent events or customer service experience. Our events team is a great way to grow a career in marketing, events, or interactive technology, and is a fantastic way to be the first in-line for full-time opportunities at our studio.

Project Coordinator

FULL-TIME, SALARIED | Hiring Immediately

About THE POSITION

MakeLab is growing, and we need your help! We’re looking for a resourceful, get-s***-done, logistics-minded project coordinator. Our studio brings future fabrication tools to events around the world, delivering hands-on experiences that draw out the designer, the creator, and the maker in all of us. As a project coordinator, you’ll be a key support to our project managers in executing hundreds of events across Canada, the US, and Europe. You’ll work with clients, suppliers, and our technical and creative teams to manage and execute projects. You’ll work with internationally-recognized brands and advertising agencies, learn about innovative creative tech and tools, and get a front-row seat to a growing creative studio.

What you’ll be accountable for

  • Assisting our project manager in planning and executing our creative and client projects, marshaling our internal team and external vendors to make projects happen on tight time-frames

  • Proactively assessing risks and finding thoughtful solutions quickly

  • Building and maintaining strict schedules

  • Tracking expenditures and budgets

  • Being on-site at events as required — in Canada, the US, and overseas — to train staff, liaise with clients, and execute our experiences

You’ll need to have

  • Outstanding organizational skills, and the capability to manage time, complex logistical plans, and deliver on-time in a very deadline-driven business

  • Experience managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities

  • Ability to work efficiently and proactively without close supervision

  • A flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends when required

  • An openness to change. We are growing fast, and adaptability is key

  • The ability to thrive in a high-intensity and sometimes stressful environment

  • Strong interpersonal/service-based skills with the ability to develop sound working relationships with your team and our clients

  • A strong desire to learn, develop and grow

  • A brain for creative problem solving, logistics, and thinking fast on your feet

  • A valid passport and the willingness and legal ability to travel to the USA and overseas (hard requirement)

  • A driver's license and are comfortable driving long distances (hard requirement)

Bonus points!

  • Experience in advertising, experiential marketing, or brand ambassador work

  • A love for live events

  • Improving processes for how we manage the execution of projects

  • Building and maintaining project plans

  • Planning projects and client communication

  • Growing our project management department, including training, coaching and process development

ABOUT MAKELAB

MakeLab brings future fabrication tools to events around the world, delivering hands-on design experiences that draw in guests and entertain. Through nearly a thousand creative experiences we’ve designed, delivered, and staffed around the world, we’ve discovered that encouraging people to create and make is an immensely powerful experience that people remember and share.

Our studio is filled with laser cutters, light tables, fabric printers, projectors, 3D printers, digital embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, and food photo booths. We stretch those technologies beyond their design intent, creating accessible, collaborative, and interactive experiences, and then partner with brands to exhibit at incredible events.
